I saw a headline about an engineer getting rejected for coding by hand and it made me realize I have officially lived too long. We are replacing founding engineers with AI agents now, which is great until the agent gets stuck in a hallucination loop and I am the only one left who remembers how to use a debugger. It is just another cycle of resume-driven development that I will eventually have to clean up during a long weekend.
